Darren Worthington - Founder & Lead Instructor

Darren founded Worth It Driving School in 2017 after spending 29 years behind the wheel. He started the business because he felt young drivers deserved better, more thorough instruction than what he was seeing in the industry. His goal is simple: to move past the "quick fix" lessons and teach students how to be genuinely safe, capable drivers for life.

When he’s not in the passenger seat helping students pass their tests, he’s usually at home with his three cats. He brings that same calm, patient energy to every lesson—though he promises his car is a lot more spacious than a lap full of felines.

I’m a very nervous beginner. How do you handle anxious students?

You are exactly who we built this school for! We specialize in nervous and anxious learners. Our approach is built on a "zero-stress" philosophy, using a calm and patient teaching style. Our modern vehicles are also equipped with dual controls, so I can assist at any time, giving you a safety net while you build your confidence.

Where do you pick up and drop off from?

We want to make your lessons as convenient as possible. We offer free pick-up and drop-off from your home, school, or workplace. Whether you want to start your lesson at Dapto High and finish at home, or get picked up from work, we’ve got you covered. Just let us know your preferred locations when you book!

Can I use the "Worth It" car for my actual driving test?

Yes, definitely! Most students feel much more comfortable taking their test in the car they’ve been practicing in. We can book a "Test Day Package" for you, which includes a warm-up lesson with me right before your appointment and the use of our dual-controlled vehicle for the RMS driving test.

How many lessons will I need to pass?

Every learner is different, but we focus on "Driving Skills for Life" rather than just the bare minimum to pass. After your first 1-Hour Starter Pack lesson, Darren will give you an honest assessment of your skills and recommend a tailored plan—like our 5-Lesson Value Bundle—to ensure you’re safe on the road for good.
